On Lexus sedans, body-on-frame SUVs, and coupes, I think the predator face works well.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

But on the crossovers, it’s hideous.

Kinja'd!!!

I find it hard to hate Lexus’ design language, even on their cars that I find ugly. People whine and complain all the time that cars all look the same nowadays, but when a manufacturer tries something different, they just get shat on and their cars are automatically labelled as ugly (see Nissan).

I think it works well on all but the GX.

I think they’re striking, certainly eye catching, and work with the sedans and coupes

Lexus was really close to winning its sales crown back, last year. People on the Internet are assholes.

I’m going to shit on it. They were late to the ‘gaping maw’ party started by Audi, entering just when the trend was starting to die out. I assume enough cash and effort was spent during the design process that to reverse or redesign their new face would have caused a few problems with the bean counters, so they just pressed on ahead with it. I’ve always wondered how Lexus managed to ruin the proportions of a vehicle with an aesthetic, but by gum they managed it. It’s overly aggressive, poorly applied bad design.

The RX looks like it rammed an oddly shaped bollard and punched a giant hole in the middle of its bumper.

I have no love for it because it makes all their vehicles appear nose heavy, which be why it looks least good on nose heavy crossovers

For me, the only thing I don’t like is when the body colored portion is more prominent than the actual grill. This is usually apparent between the F and non-F/F-sport variants. The large vents really make the front ends.

As long as there isn’t a huge expanse of blank body work, the front end works for me. Most of the SUVs have a large amount of blank body work at the lower corners of the front and, for me, that makes the design look half-assed.

My problem with the Lexus Angry Face is that everyone in my area who has one of these cars drives like they have the same exact expression on their own face as on their cars’ face.

The Lexus design is certainly polarizing. Like it or not, I can vouch that it does not photograph well.

One must see it in person to truly make a decision.
